At one point not too long ago, television titan Shonda Rhimes owned four multimillion-dollar homes in and around L.A.’s ritzy Hancock Park neighborhood.

She sold an 8,200-square-foot mansion almost three years ago for about $7.2 million to powerhouse real estate agent Matt Altman, a tidy profit on the $5.6 million she paid musician Beck Hansen in 2010, and earlier this year she took in a whopping $21 million on the sale of an even larger showbiz-pedigreed mansion she scooped up in 2014 for $8.8 million. (The latter home was twice featured in Architectural Digest, first when owned by sitcom queen Patricia Heaton, and then again after Rhimes had it worked over by White House designer Michael S. Smith.)

The bi-coastal “Bridgerton” creator has now hoisted another of her L.A. homes on the market, this one an antique brick-clad English Country manor house with an asking price of $6.5 million. Purchased about five years ago for almost $4.6 million, the stately home sits behind secured iron gates and high hedging on nearly half an acre of landscaped grounds. The listing agent is Ed Solorzano at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.

Built in 1924, the home retains much of its original grandeur but has also been updated with all the contemporary conveniences of a modern luxury lifestyle. The nearly 4,900-square-foot antique brick-clad home offers four bedrooms and five bathrooms, while a poolside cabana with another bathroom is perfectly suitable as a home office, fitness suite or guest quarters.

Inside, the formal living room is anchored by a black-marble fireplace with an elaborate carved plaster mantelpiece, the dining room is enhanced with a coffered ceiling, the library features teal-colored built-ins, and the recently renovated kitchen is arranged around a huge island and open to an adjoining dining area and lounge with another marble-accented fireplace.

There’s another fireplace in the primary bedroom, which also includes several closets and a spacious bathroom with a huge garden tub and a dedicated makeup vanity. Other highlights include and elevator for the lazy, laden and/or infirm, two laundry rooms, one on the main floor and another upstairs, and a faux-grassed backyard and swimming pool privatized by mature trees and tall hedges.

The driving force behind a slew of hit shows that include “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” “Scandal” and “Inventing Anna,” Rhimes still owns a vintage Spanish-style duplex on a Sycamore-lined street just west of Hancock Park, which she acquired in 2007 for about $1.65 million. And, in late 2018, the four-time Emmy nominated writer/producer set her real estate sights on New York City, where she shelled out $11.75 million for a two-bedroom penthouse along Park Avenue that she also had gussied up in regal style by Smith and then had photographed for Architectural Digest.
