A baby has died after falling out of the backseat of a car in Northern Virginia and was accidentally hit, authorities said.Prince William County Police said they responded to a crash Sunday afternoon in Woodbridge.According to the uniform, a 35-year-old mother from Hyattsville, Maryland, was visiting relatives with her 10-month-old daughter.Police said the mother placed the baby in the back seat, unrestrained, and drove her 2013 Toyota Highlander a short distance to a dumpster.The mother then drove back to a house to pick up other family members.[A young Latino soccer player is shot dead in Florida: his stepmother "started playing" with a gun, pointed it at him and the gun went off]When a family member opened the back door, the girl fell out of the car.At that point, the mother got out of the driver's seat to check on her daughter, but according to police, the woman left the car running.The vehicle rolled forward and hit the girl, causing a serious head injury.The baby died later that same day.Police have not identified the mother or the girl.No charges have yet been filed, but police say the case is still under investigation.A Division of NBCUniversal |NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises
